Phelps Dunbar Attorney to Serve on Princeton University’s Board of Trustees
Jun 11, 2010 – Kim M. Boyle, partner in the employment law regional practice group in the firm's New Orleans office, has been elected to serve on the Board of Trustees for Princeton University. She was elected by Princeton alumni to a four-year term as an alumni trustee. The 40-member Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall direction of the University. It approves the operating and capital budgets, supervises the investment of the University's endowment and oversees campus real estate and long-range physical planning. The trustees also exercise review and approval concerning changes in major policies, such as those involving admission, as well as tuition and fees and the hiring of faculty members.Ms. Boyle practices in the areas of labor and employment, civil rights, constitutional law, commercial litigation and general litigation. She is involved in and serves on the board of several professional organizations and committees both locally and nationally. Ms. Boyle has recently completed her term as the Louisiana State Bar Association's 2009-2010 President; she is the first African-American woman to hold this position. She is also active in the New Orleans Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, American Bar Association, National Bar Association, Louis A. Martinet Legal Society and Magistrate Selection Committee for the Eastern District of Louisiana. She serves on the Board of Trustees for Touro Infirmary and served on the Board of Trustees for Tulane University.
In addition, Ms. Boyle has been honored with the New Orleans Bar Association's Presidents' Award (2007); National Bar Association's President's Award (2006); Louisiana State Bar Association's President's Award (2000); Louis A. Martinet Legal Society's President's Award; New Orleans CityBusiness Leadership in Law Hall of Fame Inductee (2010); New Orleans CityBusiness Leadership in Law Award - Honoree (2005, 2006 and 2007); New Orleans CityBusiness Women of the Year - Overall Winner (2009); New Orleans CityBusiness Women of the Year - Honoree (2005 and 2008); Young Leadership Council's Annual Role Model Award (2004); Strategic Partner of the Year Award by RPM Pizza, d/b/a Domino's Pizza (2004); A.P. Tureaud Award for Outstanding Service, Greater New Orleans Louis A. Martinet Society (2003 and 2005); the Loyola University Black Law Students Association Louis Westerfield Award (1995); and the Dryades YMCA Certificate of Merit (1994).
